Carnegie rolled his eyes. "Don't see why I have to be here. Got plenty of work as it is."
"You have work? Really? I heard that you'd finished your last case two weeks ago," Gemma grinned. "So that means you've got a new case?"
He snorted and ignored her question. "Where are we going, anyway? Why're we here?"
Now it was her turn to roll her eyes. "We're meeting someone here," She said, dancing over to the fountain. "Oh, and I also wanted to check out the bookshop. I need some more books."
"Hpmh. You do realise that you could've borrowed a few of my books," Carnegie grunted, following Gemma into the nearby book shop.
"I've already read some of your books. They're boring, Carnegie! Seriously, maybe you could get a few books here aswell. It'd do your library good." She fiddled around with her necklace. "What type of books do you preferr, then?" She asked, bouncing over to a shelf.
"Murder Cases," He growled and stalked over to the shelf Gemma was looking at. "What the hell is this? These prices are crap! Thirty-seven bucks for this book?" He frowned, holding up a thin chapter book of Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher.
Gemma rolled her eyes. "I get err... discounts." She nodded slowly. "You could call it bringing in threatining friends if you want."
He chuckled and looked around the shelves again. "Really? How much do you get off books then?"
She shrugged. "Depends on what book I want and depends on how much I have in my pocket." Nodding, she pulled a book off the shelf and handed it to Carnegie. "Try this one."
He read the cover, "Portrait of a killer... Jack the Ripper, Case closed." He shrugged. "You read it?"
"Yup," She nodded. "It's really good."
He shrugged. "Good enough for me, then. I'll get it."
She grinned. "Great!" She already had three books in her arms. Bouncing over to the counter, she dumped them down. "These three and that one," She indicated the book Carnegie had. The assistant nodded. "That's two-" The assistant was cut off by some other person. The man nodded to Gemma. "How much?" He asked. Gemma chuckled and slid sixty dollars onto the counter.
